Recently have been told I look like Mary Ann from Gilligan's Island. I hadn't heard that in years, but that is a good place to start as to what I look like, although she had a better bod. I have three boys and have been married for 13 years. Born of a Navy family, in Hawaii, one Mom, one Dad, one sister and one brother. The eldest of three children. BS in Applied Mathematics. Consider Pensacola my home town although I moved every 2-3 years of my life growing up. Currently work in the aerospace industry in an engineering position while being a Mom. Of Celtic heritage and very proud of it.

My Brush with Fame

Well everyone is blogging on their brush with fame, so I had to tell this story. Sally started it with THIS post and then Tammi was talking about shopping with Oprah in their jammies, so here it goes.

I was pregnant with Son#1 and had this hankering for pancakes one Sunday morning. So my better half took me to IHOP. This big crowd came in and sat along the back of the restaurant. There was a Dad type guy, a Mom who was dressed to the nine, and a bunch of teenagers it looked like with boyfriends and girlfriends. They had all evidently just come from church.

So they're eating, but I keep staring because I KNOW the Dad. My husband says, "What's up? You see someone you know?" to which I replied, "Yeah, can't figure from where."

Now I'm no long staring, but analyzing data in my head. Finally he said, "Figure it out yet?" to which I replied, "No, dammit. I'm going through all the departments at work. He's not in Finance, he's not in Accounting, he doesn't work my program... I'll figure it out."

Breakfast continues, I'm still clueless as to which department this guy works. Finally my husband says, "Where is this guy?" and he turns around and busts out laughing. "You don't know that guy! That's Gary Carter!"

Well hell, I'd seen his picture, I'd seen him pitch at Shea Stadium. God only knows I seemed to know everything about the man since my brother in law is only the biggest daggum Mets fan in the whole entire universe. I knew him so well, I just felt like I REALLY knew him. We still laugh about it. The time I thought I worked with Gary Carter.

As a major baseball fan, I really enjoyed that story...my only complaint is that you did not get his autograph which would have been a valuable keepsake B-)
